Axol has no head and no legs, yet it belongs in the humanoid catalogue because its two human-proportioned arms are built for physical-AI research. Almond AI, a Y Combinator-backed company in San Francisco, has sold it since 2026 at 9,499 USD for the complete unit or 8,549 USD without grippers, according to the maker's price list of October 2026, shipping from stock in San Francisco.
The assembly weighs 19.5 kg. Each of the two arms has seven degrees of freedom, fourteen in total, with 860 mm reach and a per-arm capacity of 6.5 kg peak and 4 kg nominal. Joints are controlled over CAN at 500 Hz with 1 mm repeatability, and the system runs on 24 V at 60 A. A two-finger parallel gripper or a package gripper serves as the standard end effector.
Two GMSL2 ports accept ZED wrist cameras and the head carries a camera mount; the camera kit is sold separately, as is the computer, with Jetson Orin NX 16 GB, AGX Orin 64 GB or Thor 128 GB as options. The robot mounts on the Owl Mount stand, the Ox Cart or the Jelly Mobile base. The SDK is open source under the MIT licence, and data collection runs through VR teleoperation.
The Trossen AI Stationary fills a similar role in research labs.
