Thirteen active degrees of freedom and eighteen movable joints set the RH5DG2 apart from the six-DOF RH56 hands of the same maker, Inspire Robots of Beijing. Thirteen motors inside the hand rotate the thumb through 65 to 175 degrees and swing the index and middle fingers sideways by 15 degrees either way, enabling grasps that simpler hands cannot form.
The price of that dexterity is mass: without a wrist the hand weighs 1020 g, plus or minus 15 g. Fingertip force is at least 10 N, thumb force at least 20 N, and the maker quotes a maximum fingertip pressure of 8 kg, which should not be confused with a whole-hand load rating, since Inspire publishes none. Closing takes no more than 0.8 s and repeatability is 0.2 mm.
Force sensors resolve 0.1 N; the T1 variants add eight tactile sensors with a 30 N range and 5 percent full-scale accuracy. Interfaces depend on the version: EtherCAT with CAN-FD on the tactile E4R/L-T1 models, EtherCAT with RS485 on the E2R/L-T1 models without touch sensing. Supply voltage spans 18 to 60 V; at 24 V the hand draws 310 mA idle and 7.5 A peak.
Applications include humanoids, research and industry, with force-controlled grasping throughout. Pricing is by quotation only. Buyers looking for a lighter hand with a similar count of degrees of freedom may compare the OmniHand Pro.
