ProHand 1.0 is the tendon-driven hand of Proception, a Mountain View start-up founded in 2024 by Jay Li, formerly an engineer on Tesla's Optimus programme, and Jack Xu, and backed by Y Combinator's winter 2025 batch. The first units shipped to researchers and companies in June 2026, alongside an USD 11 million seed round.
The hand has 22 degrees of freedom, 18 of them actuated: motors pull cables to the finger joints, four joints per finger, with roughly 90 degrees of flexion and about 120 degrees of thumb rotation. A two-axis wrist adds flexion from −30 to +65 degrees and ±30 degrees of abduction.
A skin developed with hand surgeons carries 96 tactile units resolving 0.1 N. Control runs in real time on a 10 ms cycle; an SDK and desktop applications are announced, with developer documentation behind a login. The ProGlove motion-capture glove is sold as an accessory.
The maker does not explicitly state the finger count, nor weight, load or interfaces, and its developer page already refers to a second generation from October 2026 production. The price is on request. For a tendon hand with a similar joint count see the Linker Hand L30 Pro; the Shadow Dexterous Hand remains the long-standing reference in this class.
