Summary

ATLAS 2030 from Madrid-based Marsi Bionics, a spin-off of the CSIC-UPM Centre for Automation and Robotics, is described as the first overground gait exoskeleton CE-marked for children with spinal muscular atrophy and cerebral palsy.

The trunk-to-feet (THKAFO) device has eight active joints: four per leg for hip, knee and ankle flexion-extension plus hip abduction-adduction, driven by variable-stiffness ARES actuators. A 2022 study in the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation gives a mass of 20 kg and a gait velocity of 0.1 m/s, and notes force sensors in the motors that detect the child's intention to move.

It runs in automatic or assisted mode via a tablet app and ships with a support frame and spare batteries. Price and battery runtime are not published.
