Hammering nails is not what most robot hands are built for, but the FLLEX Hand from Prof. Kim Yong-jae's team at Korea University of Technology and Education (KoreaTech) was designed to absorb impacts the way a human hand does. Its finger mechanism is fluid-lubricated and uses no bearings or metal hinges in palm or fingers; in demonstrations the hand hammered and lifted more than 4 kg with a single fingertip.
Korean press from June 2020 credits it with 15 degrees of freedom, and a later paper citing it mentions 15 servo motors. The underlying research by Kim Yong-jae, Junsuk Yoon and Young-Woo Sim on a fluid-lubricated dexterous finger mechanism with human-like impact absorption appeared in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters in 2019 and won the best paper award at ICRA 2020.
The team does not publish finger count, weight, drive type or interfaces. It is a university project, not for sale and without a price. Commercial Korean hands in the catalogue include Allegro Hand V4 and DG-5F.
