DM-Hand1

What sets the DM-Hand1 apart is its sense of touch rather than its mechanics. Daimon Robotics, a Shenzhen company better known for its DM-Tac vision-based tactile sensors, fitted each fingertip of this five-finger hand with an ultra-thin camera-based sensor that reads surface deformation, three-axis force, hardness and texture of whatever the hand grasps.

Summary

What sets the DM-Hand1 apart is its sense of touch rather than its mechanics. Daimon Robotics, a Shenzhen company better known for its DM-Tac vision-based tactile sensors, fitted each fingertip of this five-finger hand with an ultra-thin camera-based sensor that reads surface deformation, three-axis force, hardness and texture of whatever the hand grasps.

The hand was introduced in April 2025 alongside the DM-Tac W sensor and the DM-EXton module. The maker does not publish degrees of freedom, actuator count, weight or payload, and its own website currently lists only the sensor range; the hand itself is sold on demand through distributors, price on request.

Typical buyers are research groups and humanoid teams that want dense tactile data for learning-based grasping. A comparable sensing-first design with an electronic skin instead of cameras is the Apex Hand. Daimon runs an R&D centre in Hong Kong and raised about USD 14 million in 2025.
