ByteDexter V2 is the in-house research hand of ByteDance Seed, described in the GR-Dexter technical report of December 2025; it is not a product for sale but the platform on which the group trains VLA control policies. The hand has 21 degrees of freedom, four per finger and five in the thumb, driven by motors housed in the palm and connected to the joints through linkages.
In each finger the metacarpophalangeal joint is a universal joint driven by two palm motors, the proximal joint has its own motor, and the distal joint is coupled to the proximal one by a four-bar linkage, so it is underactuated; the policy's action space keeps 16 active degrees of freedom per hand. Thumb actuation is not described in the report.
The hand measures 219 x 108 mm, while weight, load capacity and interfaces are not given by the authors. Touch comes from high-resolution piezoresistive arrays on all five fingertips that measure normal force. Joint position commands originate from teleoperation with a Meta Quest and Manus gloves or from a learned policy, and the hand operates on ByteDance's 56-DOF dual-arm system.
The earlier V1 of July 2025 had 20 degrees of freedom and also used linkages. There is no price, as the hand is not sold. A commercially available hand with a similarly high DOF count is the Revo 3.
