ByteDance Seed is the AI research arm of ByteDance. Its robotics group builds the in-house ByteDexter research hands with linkage drives and palm-housed motors: the V1 of July 2025 had 20 degrees of freedom, and the ByteDexter in its V2 form of December 2025 has 21 plus piezoresistive fingertip touch.
The hands operate on a 56-DOF dual-arm system in the GR-Dexter project, where the team trains VLA control models from teleoperation data. The hands are not sold.
