AIDIN-Hand Gen1

AIDIN Robotics of Anyang, Korea, is first of all a maker of force, torque and tactile sensors, and the AIDIN-Hand Gen1 was built around that sensing: each of the five fingertips carries a six-axis force/torque sensor, complemented by motor encoders and motor-current measurement.

Summary

AIDIN Robotics of Anyang, Korea, is first of all a maker of force, torque and tactile sensors, and the AIDIN-Hand Gen1 was built around that sensing: each of the five fingertips carries a six-axis force/torque sensor, complemented by motor encoders and motor-current measurement.

Fifteen motors inside the hand provide 15 degrees of freedom, three per finger, with the third and fourth joints of each finger coupled. The maker claims a 15 kg load capacity but does not publish weight or dimensions. Control is unusual: a server node on the hand's computer listens on TCP/IP port 8000 and accepts JSON messages that set the target position of every motor, the operating mode and a torque limit.

The Gen1 is a research prototype for humanoid and laboratory use, was never sold in regular quantities and therefore has no price. Its successor, the AIDIN Hand Gen2 with 16 degrees of freedom, 20 kg load, a palm tactile sensor and a CAN-FD SDK, was shown at AW 2026 and is announced for 2026.

Anyone needing a commercially available hand with fingertip force sensing today might look at the OmniHand Pro for comparison.
