Team Hypno-Disc (Rose family)

Team Hypno-Disc is the Rose family of Middleton Cheney, England, Dave, Derek and Ken Rose, who brought the horizontal flywheel to Robot Wars and popularised spinners in British robot combat. Their 100 kg Hypno-Disc reached the Series 3 Grand Final in 1999, losing to Chaos 2, and finished fourth in Series 4 (2000) and Series 5 (2001); the team received the ‘Most Original Entry’ award.

Disc and motor data were never published and no free photograph of the robot exists. The family set-up was typical of the first wave of British builders, who made their robots in garages without sponsor backing.
