Team Eruption

Team Eruption is a British father-and-son team: Michael Oates, then a 19-year-old student from Durham, designed and drove the robot, and his father Adrian Oates built it. Their wedge-shaped full-pressure flipper Eruption lost the Series 9 Robot Wars final to Carbide in 2017, then won the show’s last series (Series 10) in December 2017, again against Carbide, on a judges’ decision.

The Irish press described the win as a fairy-tale ending. Since 2018 the team has not appeared on television.
