Unveiled in July 2026, the Tacta Hand is the end effector of the TactaBot system from Tacta Systems in Palo Alto. It is a human-scale five-finger hand with 15 degrees of freedom, three per finger, and the company has also announced a three-finger configuration.
Instead of placing motors inside the fingers, the hand uses a proprietary Fluidic Tendon principle: fluid routed through cables drives small pistons in each finger, giving 25 N at every fingertip.
Touch comes from MEMS tactile sensors smaller than a grain of sand, covering 250 to 700,000 Pa, resolving temperature to 0.1 degrees, spaced on a 1 mm grid and sampled at 400 Hz; the fingertips are designed as wear parts that can be swapped. Every joint carries its own sensing, and skills are taught through a capture glove worn by a human operator.
According to the maker the mechanism is rated for 30 million cycles. Weight, interfaces and price are not published, so the hand is available on request only; first TactaBot shipments are planned for early 2027. Compared with the research-oriented Shadow Dexterous Hand Lite, this hand is aimed squarely at skilled manufacturing work.
