The design is underactuated: only three actuators inside the hand move ten degrees of freedom, eight in the fingers and two in the thumb, whose abduction is set actively or passively to 0 or 50 degrees. Two sizes exist, S at 520 g, 172 mm length and 97 mm opening, and M at 605 g, 196 mm and 110 mm.
At 7.4 V the power grip delivers 70 N in 1.0 s, the tripod grip 30 N in 0.65 s and the lateral grip 45 N in 0.9 s; the closed hand carries a static 45 kg and the knuckles withstand 120 kg of pressure. Sensing covers fingertip force, motor and finger position and speed, a nine-axis IMU and temperature.
Notable are the IP67 rating and the wide 6 to 24 V supply at 6 A. Interfaces include RS-485, USB/UART, CAN as CAN-FD or CANopen, TCP/IP over Ethernet or Wi-Fi, with Bluetooth LE for setup only; the connector is an eight-pin M8 and the mount an ISO 9409-1 flange. The SDK streams ROS 2 telemetry at 100 to 200 Hz, up to 1 kHz, and there is a programmable button and a companion app.
BionIT states that the figures describe a product under development. Price on request. The British COVVI Robotic Hand shares the same prosthetic lineage.
