The Soft Robotics Lab at ETH Zurich, led by Robert Katzschmann, is the author of the open-source ORCA family of tendon hands. The base OrcaHand with seventeen servos in a forearm tower was described in a 2025 paper and shown at IROS 2025; it is complemented by the OrcaHand Touch with a 351-taxel tactile skin and the simplified OrcaHand Lite.

Software is MIT-licensed and the hardware documentation carries a Creative Commons licence; kits are sold through orcahand.com and ROBOTIS, and roboticscenter.ai offers the tactile version. The lab belongs to ETH Zurich, while the entity ORCA Dexterity handles hardware distribution.
