The Hybrid Robotics Lab at Stanford University developed ToddlerBot, a small desktop humanoid for research on locomotion and manipulation using machine learning, and released it under an open license. The key feature of the project is the public availability of assembly instructions and a cost limited to the price of parts rather than the price of a commercial product.

That puts ToddlerBot in an entirely different category from commercial humanoids such as the Unitree G1 or Figure 02, with which it competes neither on price nor on function, but as an educational and research platform. The university gives no figures on production scale, availability in Europe or service support, which is typical of open-source academic projects.

For university labs and robotics hobbyists in Poland, ToddlerBot can be a cheaper entry point than buying a finished humanoid.
