Hyundai Rotem of Uiwang (location from general knowledge) belongs to the Hyundai Motor Group and builds the K2 main battle tank – bought by Poland – as well as rolling stock. In ground robotics the company developed the electric 6x6 HR-Sherpa, shown in 2019, from which the Multi-Purpose UGV delivered to the Republic of Korea Army in 2022 derives.
Hyundai Rotem also partners with Rainbow Robotics on a counter-terrorism quadruped under trial with Korean special forces since August 2024 in a DAPA programme. The remote weapon system for the HR-Sherpa comes from sister company Hyundai Wia.
