Poppy is an open-source humanoid platform that started in the Inria/Flowers lab in France and is now sold as a ready-made educational kit, the Poppy Ergo Jr, by the French distributor Generation Robots, based in Pessac.
The design is 3D-printed and uses Dynamixel servos, which puts it in the same educational niche as the LeRobot/TheRobotStudio SO-101 kits or Poppy-like robots from the InMoov family, except that it comes with commercial support and an assembly manual rather than being solely an open-source project you build yourself.
The sources give no founding year for the distribution company itself, nor data on funding or sales scale; Generation Robots works mainly as a shop, not a manufacturer in the classic sense. For Polish schools and universities teaching robotics and programming, it is one of the few ready-to-order educational platforms with open software, though ordering means importing from France.
