Hanwha Aerospace of Seoul is the defence arm of South Korea's Hanwha Group, known for the K9 self-propelled howitzer and the K239 Chunmoo rocket launcher, both bought by Poland. In ground robotics it develops the Arion-SMET, an all-electric 6x6 UGV weighing 2 t with a 550 kg payload, which in December 2023 became the first foreign ground robot to complete a US Foreign Comparative Test with the Marine Corps in Hawaii.
For the US Army's S-MET Increment II the vehicle is offered by Anduril and Hanwha Defense USA with Forterra autonomy – Anduril has no ground vehicle of its own. The Arion-SMET is also being developed for the Republic of Korea Army.
