Summary

SCHUNK's SVH was the first robot gripper certified by the German DGUV for collaborative operation, and it is still the benchmark for anthropomorphic hands in industrial settings. Nine servo drives with spindle guides move twenty axes: two each for thumb, index and middle finger, one each for ring and little finger, plus one spread axis.

All control and power electronics live in the wrist, so only RS-485 and 24 V run up the arm. Fingers and housing are aluminium alloy; the hand is 242.5 mm long, 92 mm wide and weighs 1.3 kg, with IP20 protection. The 0.85 kg payload figure applies to collaborative use, and form-closed grasps allow considerably more. Position and current sensing sits in the drives; there is no tactile surface.

Drivers exist for ROS 1 and ROS 2, the FWK quick-change system is supported, and left and right hands are available. Price on request. Compared with the tendon-driven Shadow Dexterous Hand the SVH is three kilograms lighter; compared with ARTUS Lite it has fewer independent drives but carries the safety certificate.
