Chiba Institute of Technology in Narashino, Japan, runs the Future Robotics Technology Center (fuRo), which together with Tohoku University and the International Rescue System Institute (IRS) developed the tracked rescue robot Quince. After the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi disaster the team modified Quince for TEPCO; from June 2011 the robot measured radiation and documented the interior of the reactor buildings.
As a university centre, fuRo does not sell robots commercially; the Quince project is documented on the centre's website, with technical data drawn from research publications and robotics portals.
